Koray Duman is an architect from Turkey, who recently renovated the East Village apartment he bought in January of 2007. The space is really clean and stylish. The 600-square-foot apartment, with its tangle of tiny rooms, had six windows, three exposures and an unusual floor plan. “I felt I could create an efficient layout with spaces that would function well,” he said.

The picture displays Koray Dunman, a really cute young talent, you creates wonderful homes! One day he can be the one!

When he started the renovation, he discovered three layers of brick beneath the walls, which he exposed and painted white throughout the apartment.

Two south-facing windows in the bedroom allow light and air to flow through the space.

By removing walls, Duman merged the living room, dining area and bedroom into one space.

He separated the dining area and bedroom by using two storage units with a curtain hung between them.

The kitchen and bathroom have windows that look out over a grape arbor, community garden and 60-foot willow tree.

“New York renovations always seem to have a lot of walled cabinets,” which Duman said he finds heavy and dull. Instead he opted for open shelving and wooden counters from Ikea.

Despite of the fact that a generally muted palette the apartment has flashes of color, like a red lacquer trunk that doubles as storage in the living room.

The clock above the radiator was purchased in NoLIta.

[...] Koray Duman‚Äî an architect from Turkey, managed to get his hands on this East Village Apartment and successfully renovated it to sport a vintage and classic look. Uncovering three layers of brick under the finishing, Dunman painted them white for a clean and unique feel. Barely 600 square feet wide, every inch of the apartment has been utilized to the hilt by removing walls to merge the living room, the dining area and the bedroom into one. And then he used some smart storage spaces as separators for each region to retain the individual look of the rooms while giving the home itself a flowing theme. With ample natural lighting and some stylish furniture, that home certainly steals the show … – via [...]
