Years ago Lisbon was a manufacturer of weapons and grenades. Today they are replaced by concert rooms, art studious, exhibition spaces, bookstores, restaurants and various bars.

After all Lisbon is not a metropolis with a well-established avant-garde tradition like Paris or Berlin, but the old-fashioned Lisbon, a small Gatholic city is famous for inexpensive seafood meals, throwback cable cars and colonial architecture.

All over the city, an upstart generation is laying waste to the sepia-toned stereotypes. In the picture is the Sneaker Delight store in the Bairro Alto district, which is a home to many of Lisbon’s designer boutiques and showrooms.

The design playmates Joao Branco left and Luis Sanchez create flamboyant retro-bizarre clothes for women based on their own tales and myths.
